NST's Defamation Suit Against Bloggers: The Snowball Effect Aftermath Prediction

So it's official, after I have blogged about it last weekend.

Read the online edition here.

Now, here's my predicition of the snowball aftermath. Please comment on them if you agree or disagree.

1. Bloggers will be unperturbed and stay as vocal as ever.

2. The popularity of the two defamee bloggers will be unperturbed, without any doubt; it may be even more popular than ever.

3. Femes bloggers associated with the press' blog will lose their femeslarity and be more desperate to retaliate back; for example by pinging a well-known blog aggregator several times with the same topic title- evidence here, here and here. There is a call to boycott it.

4. Their sales will dwindle even more.

5. The case will blink on the radars of international freedom of speech foundations like Reporters Sans Frontiers, Global Voices Online etc.

6. Malaysia's international press freedom index will dwindle even further. Not to mention other indexes related to transparency, human rights and freedom of speech.

7. Malaysia will be famous again for wrong reasons. Already there are three international news agencies which picked up the news.

Mind to add on?

[UPDATED] 8. From a commenter in Mave's blog:

Mahathir's Multimedia Super Corridor and all the high hopes of an international IT hub flushed down the drain... and by none other than his hand-picked successor. The foreign IT companies will start packin up one after the other to Chin, Vietnam, India..

A wise (and worthwhile) move? You decide...
