Bahagian Keselamatan UPM: A Truly 'Quality' Security Division; They Even Have Their Own 'Special Branch'!

Much have been blogged about Yee Yang Yang's case and it was also covered extensively by Malaysiakini (but not the other mainstream media - they are too busy breaking fast with the PM and perhaps discussing how to cover up this case at the same time), so I won't regurgitate any information here.

What I want to blog is about here is about this notorious Bahagian Keselamatan (BK) Universiti Putra Malaysia or the Securities Division of the UPM, as mentioned previously in one of this blog's most-read post "Your One-Stop Guide To The Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Mob Video" back in July last year. They even have their own website here.

First of all, one would be brought to attention to this roof-with-a-boat-shape structure upon entering the UPM campus. Dubbed as the 'Titanic of UPM', this structure is actually the guardhouse owned by the BK and was also reported to have costed a fortune.

And circa 2003, there was a buzz of the tight security imposed in the campus, all for this ego-inflating "first security division of any public institute of higher education (IPTA) in the country to be awarded the ISO 9001:2000 by SIRIM/QAS international for the scope "Provision of security services" certification.

The BK boasted a range of policing services, ranging from imposing traffic fines to becoming the fashion police.

And yes, they even have their own 'special branch' named 'Unit Tugas Khas' which includes the following activities:

And for the sake of the original context again, here's the 'laptop snatching' incident which happened to Yee Yang Yang.

Invasion of the laptop-snatchers: YOU COULD BE NEXT! Poster by mob1900.

And here's the mugshot of the addresser of the letter, Encik Kassim bin Shaikh Mohd:

Just ask any students from UPM if they like to be policed around by the BK and you'll know. ;-)

Before a certain femes drama queen starts to flame others by saying that this blogger is tarnishing her alma mater and her reputation per se, let me reiterate that this blogger is ALSO a graduate of that alma mater and he still blogs about it; although he is a bit perturbed by the name-calling going around now. :-(
